A hardcore spin on the AJ Gray/Chris Dickinson match from the week prior in that it’s a leg selling based match for Dickinson’s opponent. Dickinson goes for the leg early before the hardcore plunder comes out and it’s a decent mauling on his part. He just goes after Deppen with big strikes and Deppen throws them back before Dickinson is able to spend some time working the leg. Thought Deppen’s performance here was really great as he remained defiant even as Dickinson tried to pick his leg apart.
Deppen does a great job selling the leg all throughout the match. It’s a constant irritant to him and it gets in the way of him being able to apply offense properly. He feels it in every kick, it troubles him when he has to get his knees up to block a move, it’s good stuff.
They run into some pacing issues here and there when it came to having to set up all the plunder they wanted to use for the match. For some reason, the ring hadn’t been laid out with all the necessary weapons like it usually is on these No Holds Barred shows so a lot of time got lost on finding things to prop up in the ring. This would have benefited from both guys being able to just grab what they needed and get right back into the thick of things.
As is though, this is a fun match with some of the hardcore plunder plus another incredibly strong selling performance from Tony Deppen. Worth the watch also to see him just get walloped with a door for the fifth or so time today.
