The first match in the build up to a match anticipated Takeshita vs. Akiyama match. Akiyama builds a trio of workers here from DDT wrestlers he’s defeated on previous editions of TV SHOW and I like the incredibly clear hierarchy that all three workers represent within the logic of Akiyama-gun. You have Uncle Jun as the towering and powerful legend leader, Oishi as a scrappy veteran second in command, and then there’s poor Okatani being their youngin bump machine. It’s a great dynamic that contrasts the far more cohesive group of ALL OUT across from them.
Akiyama and Takeshita start things out here to tease their eventual singles match. It’s a tense and heated exchange that does just enough to leave us wanting more. Shunma plays Ricky Morton for ALL OUT when Akiyama-gun are able to take the advantage while Okatani does the same for Akiyama-fun. Okatani has such a youthful vibe to him as he tries to take the fight to Takeshita. It’s a bravery doomed to fail which makes it all the more compelling.
For a DDT six-man tag, this is one of the more subdued affairs. It goes fairly short but it still has a lot of that wild energy one comes to expect from these matches. Also it has Jun Akiyama. A fun six-man tag to build to something larger without giving too much away.
