5 Star Matches - Joseph Montecillo

Throughout the years, I’ve gone on record in various places that certain matches are 5 stars. In the grand tradition of the old forums, I’ve decided to compile a list of them here. There’s a caveat though in that this isn’t a comprehensive list of every 5 star match I’ve ever publicly awarded on my platforms. Rather, in compiling the list, I did a mental pruning. There was no hard science to what got cut and what remained, only the immediate gut reaction of how confident I felt about giving that rating to each match. If I thought to myself, “I need to revisit that to be sure,” then I cut it for the time being. If I saw it and thought, “Yes, that’s right,” then it stayed.

This will be corrected and changed over time so feel free to keep referring to it. The search for the greatest is neverending, and always shifting.

For the time being, here are the matches I currently consider to be among the greatest of all time, the pinnacle of what pro wrestling has to offer.
