Before the match, Eddie Kingston yells at a young child in a Blue Panther mask that there’s no Easter Bunny, no Santa Claus, and that no one loves that child. Hilarious stuff. More than anything the shit talk from Eddie in these PG settings has been the highlight of this 2004 stuff.
This is mostly harmless fun especially in the babyface shine. Lots of bits based around Hero trying to grab cravats on either man, The Wild Cards stooging and just getting repeatedly owned. The crowd are having a good time with it, at least, they’re especially bought into Hero and want to see him get the better of the two heels here. It’s fun all the creative ways the tecnicos find to make fools of Eddie and Blackjack here. My personal favorite is feinting for a double plancha, causing the Wild Cards to knock heads and leave Eddie vulnerable to a double tope. Just fun stuff.
It gets less fun when the Wild Cards are in control. They don’t do much to keep the momentum up, there’s no extra spark of violence. Even all the Eddie and Hero stuff is pretty civil all around. This gets a little long in the tooth for what it’s attempting, but for the most part, it’s about as enjoyable a Christmastime romp down at your local rasslin’ show can be.
