Another win in the Soup/Akiyama feud. Major DDT multiman tags like this are hard to get wrong given that the formula is built around big heated transitions involving everyone in the ring. You get a lot of that here as usual but there’s a bunch of other smaller moments here that makes this worth watching. The Soup/Akiyama interactions didn’t actually steal the show this time around as I find myself drawn to some of the other competitors here instead. Perhaps the best bits involved the youngest workers in Nakamura and Okatani just beating the holy hell out of each other to try and leave a positive impression on the crowd and each other’s faces. The tiny tease that we get for a possible Akiyama/Aoki match also felt incredibly major as well and it seems that they’re saving that bit of goodness for something further down the line. While I’d say it’s a step behind the better DDT tags of the year, this is still a strong addition to the build to the eventual Soup vs. Akiyama singles match and easily match of the night on this card too.
