Luke Jacobs vs. Ethan Allen (WXW Ambition 12 3/7/20)

These two first made waves wrestling each other on the final Tetsujin show. A lot of people online were over the moon for that match and while I enjoyed it, I was one of the lower votes on it from the people who did see it. I expect the opposite might be true for this match as I absolutely loved this rematch. These two bring the stiff strikes and intensity that they had in the Tetsujin to supplement a surprisingly well thought out narrative. Jacobs gets the early advantage here with his kicks, open palm strikes, and suplexes to drop Allen on his ass multiple times. Allen’s comeback from underneath, fighting to regain the advantage over his partner then makes for some really compelling wrestling especially when these two work at the insane speed and intensity that they do. Everything looks great, everything makes sense, and there’s some really compelling selling in there too. All tied up in a compact sub-15 minute match that maximizes every second. Excellent match and probably my favorite from 16 Carat weekend of the stuff I’ve seen so far.
